On This Bed
On this bed, this nest, feather trimmed
This kingdom blessed, our
Buoyant offspring were joyously
Conceived
And we did melt, like smoked cheddar
On the slightly salted sourdough of life
In each other’s oven warmth
And sank beneath our dermal limits
To plumb the depths of our sweetness
And savour the surge of the Spirit
In our breathless symphony
Laughed and caressed like
Lovers indeed we were
And are
Lovers.
